Our Story

Window Woman of New England began with a simple belief: old windows are worth saving. Based in Amesbury, Massachusetts, we specialize in historic wood window restoration, helping homeowners preserve the craftsmanship and character of their homes.

Founded in 2003 by Alison Hardy, the company grew out of her experience living in old houses with drafty, broken, and painted-shut windows. Replacing them meant losing the details that made those homes special. Guided by Yankee thrift and a determination to find a better solution, Alison began learning how to restore them.

What started with her own windows soon expanded to projects for friends and, eventually, a business dedicated to preserving New England’s historic windows.

Today, our team carries that belief forward, combining skilled restoration with practical improvements that help old windows work well again. We help homeowners care for the windows that belong to their homes while preserving the home’s character for generations to come.

Our Team

The Window Woman team collectively brings a diverse range of skills from their past experiences, all united by a shared commitment to delivering superior craftsmanship. Our journey is one of continuous growth and mutual learning, drawing insights from each other and the wide array of windows we encounter. Last year alone, we restored over 600 windows and repaired an additional 700+, a testament to our dedication to preserving architectural heritage.
